Construction Estimator

Job Description

Position Description/Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Director of Sales and Business Development, this position will evaluate and estimate RFQs to closure.  This key individual will drive sales growth and profitability by ensuring that we understand, meet and exceed our customer's expectation on every project by ensuring a profitable and accurate quote.  This role will also develop new relationships by communicating and leveraging our value propositions to key, select clients, general contractors and key sub-contracting partners.


Duties include:


         Review and develop cost estimates for a variety of projects ranging from short-duration self-perform projects to large, complex projects requiring subcontract coordination and multiple mobilizations


         Collaborate on bid strategy


         Communicate with contractors and team members regarding new and current projects


         Prepare cost estimates, comprehensive bid packages, subcontractor RFQs and purchase orders in detail for all projects


         Ensure timely completion and accuracy of estimates and revisions


         Understand scope of work to bid and manage RFI process for assigned opportunities


         Manage bid pricing from all vendors


         Prepare cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, travel, subcontractor and overhead/indirect costs incurred to execute scopes of work to specifications


         Generate estimates where predetermined standards are not available


         Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors


         Accurately perform take-offs of construction documents


         Cooperate with Project Managers in project turnover and maintaining customer service relations and activities


         Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.


         Participate in departmental meetings and training's as required


Requirements:


         Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Applied Science, Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience


         Able to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates


         Strong understanding of commercial and industrial construction processes


         Proficient in MS Word and Excel


         Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines


         Impeccable problem-solving skills


         A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected


         Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals


         Keen interest in being part of a high-energy, high-growth team


 


Goals:


         Submit $1m in quality estimates monthly


         Reduce internal overhead cost through efficiencies


         Customer Relationship Maintenance

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
